Expository Essay:
What Would I Become?
Many teenagers spend a lot of time contemplating what they want to do when they
graduate from high school. I am very proud to tell everyone that I want to become a veterinarian, specializing in canines when I graduate from college. Just like us, dogs need special care when it comes to medical health. That is why I am doing my best to become a veterinarian. I will find happiness in my career as a veterinarian because when dogs need my assistance, I know that I will be able to help them.
I want to have my own "Dog Clinic" when I grow up. Giving dog lovers happiness when it comes to dog care. In fact, a bachelor’s degree is necessary in order to even enter a veterinarian program. One must also possess excellent communication, leadership, public speaking, and organizational skills.
Once I have completed a veterinarian program, I will be able to pursue my dream career.
This career provides numerous benefits, the first of which is salary. A salary that would definitely allow me to live a comfortable life. Secondly, it is a rewarding job. This job would provide me with the satisfaction of knowing that I am helping or saving a dog’s life. Finally, becoming a veterinarian would assure me a lifetime of happiness. I know I would love going to my job every day, because I would be working with what I love most: dogs. This is the dream that I would keep on achieving.
Descriptive Essay:
Cellphones
In today’s generation, our technology has been very advance. In the past, mobile phones are just used to communicate to anyone and anywhere. But in this present time, they are more than just a communication device. They have been a necessity in our everyday lives. Even children nowadays have their own cell phones. Many teenagers today describe their cell phones as their “life”. The main use of my mobile phone is for communication. I can use it for sending text messages and for calling anyone from anywhere in the world without a landline connection. It also allows me to call for help during times of emergencies. For example, if I encountered an accident, I can immediately call my friends or family for help. In the past, whenever a person needs to get a hold of someone, he can only call them using their landline phone. Or if he is not home, he needs to run to the nearest telephone booth to make a call. Because of technological advancements, I can also use my phone for sending e-mails and instant messages through Facebook, Yahoo! Messenger, and Gmail. Even social networks like Facebook and Twitter that can only be accessed through the computer can now be accessed on my phone. I will never be bored when I have my cell phone. It is not just a great communication device; it can be a good source of entertainment as well. My phone’s entertainment feature is very useful whenever I am waiting for the LRT, waiting for my next class or if I have a doctor’s appointment. There are thousands of free games available that can be downloaded easily. With the access on the internet, I can go on YouTube, Google, and Yahoo! anytime. I do not have to bring a camera, iPod, or mp3 players when I am bored. I am very sure that cellphones will continue to give people happiness and a way of easy communication with others.
Narrative Essay:
The Day I Learned To Ride My Bike
I must have been seven or eight years old when I rode my first bicycle, and the day I learned to ride my bike is very memorable to me. It was a bright warm afternoon and the perfect summer day, school vacation time, kids playing, sun shining. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the afternoon. The kids in my neighborhood were running around playing fun games. I was outside with my older brother and my cousin. We were playing "Tagu-taguan" when my dad pulled into the driveway in his pickup truck with a bicycle in the back. I can clearly recall it. My dad must have picked it up at a store near our house . It was an old, rusty bicycle with some yellow and white paint on it. I didn't care what the bicycle looked like. I was more excited to do something with my dad. Learning to ride my bike would mean a bond with my dad and a challenge for myself. If I learned, I knew it would make him proud.
The feeling of learning to do something for the first time was a bit frightening; especially having my dad as my riding instructor. Something good must have happened that day that I was not aware of, because my dad was in a good mood. Usually my father was very impatient and demanding so it was surprising to have him want to teach me to ride my bike for the first time. I didn't care to look for reasons. My dad jumped out of his truck and reached to get the bicycle that he bought from the store and we started riding it. At first, I fell a lot of times, it hurts but I know I will be able to do it right. At the end of the day we were both exhausted and went inside for dinner. The other day I tried to ride the bike again and I was surprised when I got it right. I was so happy and I ran to my dad and showed him how good I am in riding a bike. Until now I still remember that experience because I love riding the bike especially in the summer at my Lola's house in Cavite.
